Absolutely the top of the line - Jenny Linds are the most beautiful and treasured antique trunks of all times. They were named for Jenny Lind, the "Swedish Nightingale" that captured the heart of America in the mid 19th Century. Jenny Lind was the most popular and beloved entertainer of that period. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she was the original Super Star. Upon her American tour in the 1850s, her trunks were immediately copied by trunk makers all over. She became so famous that not only the trunk style but household items, buildings, streets, even a town was named for her. This is one of the nicest representatives of the JL family we've ever had. It's all original except the new leather handles, even the original tray is inside. Note the large brass lock plate and the liberal use of brass buttons on black metal straps. This particular trunk has something very rarely found; the maker of the metal bands stamped their company name-J. Bagnall and Sons into some of the straps. This company made straps for many Jenny Lind trunk makers. Note too the beautiful warm tones in the pine body of the trunk, enhanced by lots of pine knots. This is a beautiful trunk inside and out so it probably won't stay in the Showroom long. Just give us a call, toll-free on 1-877-653-8786 or send us an email to TreasuredChests@oldtrunks.com and we'll have it professionally packed and on its way to you within hours.
