Stagecoach trunks were small to mid-sized work horses for many years. Usually kept simple and functional they could be very pretty too. Their weight was kept to a bare minimum so they could be hoisted onto carriages or the top of stagecoaches. This is a very nice example with its narrow hardwood staves and pine background, both with very nice grains and a few pine knots. This particular trunk has stave clamps that we've never seen on any other trunk. Each clamp has a nice little rosette in the middle. Note too the liberal use of Jenny Lind type brass buttons. The trunk is all original except for the nice new double-stitched leather handles & short straps. In keeping with the rustic nature of this type trunk we've left the interior unlined. We've cleaned and resealed it so you can rest assured it's safe, clean and sanitary. This beauty would make a nice little coffee table.
