Wide stave trunks were very popular back in the late 1800s. Many were made in New England. This particular trunk is made even more elegant by its grooved staves and its smaller staves. The outside features a pleasant metal background trimmed in black and cast double-cross latches. The lock still works and a key is provided. Note the lock's solid brass escutcheon. We replaced the handles with new double-stitched leather handles. The inside has been cleaned, resealed and relined. This is a fairly large trunk with quite a bit of lockable storage space. It'll fit in with any decor. Imagine it in a foyer, bay window, at the foot of a bed, anywhere you need beautiful and secure storage that represents lots of history. We found it in Indian Orchard, MA on one of our trunk-hunting expeditions.
