This stunning dome top from the 1880s is
covered with a beautiful floral embossed pattern and nice oak staves on
the top and front. The other three sides of the trunk are
beautifully-knotted pine with oak staves. The original lock still works
and we found a real antique key to fit it. The entire trunk is original
except for the new leather handles and the new lining. The inside of the
dome has a pretty picture of farm animals in a nice setting. The
original tray that's made of pine is inside. Thanks to good
records-keeping, we don't have to wish for this one to talk-we know its
history. It was one of two trunks that came from the
T???????? family in Alamance County, NC. Mr. T???????? several
generations back, hand-made the first bricks for Elon College. The trunk
had been in the family for six generations and had always stayed in the
family home except the few times it traveled. For the sake of the
family's privacy we will reveal the family name only to the buyer of
this trunk. BTW, the other trunk is a nice flat top with embossed metal;
we haven't had time to restore it yet but we can hold it and restore it
for anyone that might want these two trunks as a set. Don't let this one slip away, call us toll-free on 1-877-653-8786 (OLDTRUNks)
