The Treasure Chest from the movie “Cutthroat Island”
Recently Hollywood CPR (Hollywood Cinema Productions Resources), a non-profit organization, had a charity auction of props and costumes from the movie “Cutthroat Island” which starred Geena Davis and Matthew Modine. We thought it would be neat to have the star prop from the movie become our “mascot”. This time we bought from Hollywood by winning the bid for the chest.
The chest is a magnificent replica of an old, weathered pirate chest. It has a heavy wooden base with a thin metal skin. We found many small pieces of cut glass inside the chest. These are shaped and colored to resemble diamonds, rubies, sapphires and other gems, part of the treasure in the movie. The chest is now on display in our showroom in the Trunk Barn.
Hollywood CPR is a youth training program that provides entertainment industry related educational programs to disadvantaged young adults between the ages of 15 and 21. Check out some of their auctions where you can find some really interesting and authentic movie props at reasonable prices. Purchases are tax deductible.
