(Sold) Trunk #5-Lovely Little Round Top from 1890s (Sold)
Simple but elegant is this little round top antique trunk from the 1890s. We managed to repair the lock and find a key for it so it can provide lockable storage space. The lock has a solid brass escutcheon with patent dates of March 1869 and April 1877. The latches are of the classic “double-cross” design and are made of cast metal. The petite staves are beautifully grained ash. We replaced the handles with new double-stitched genuine leather ones. The handle loops are original and of the starburst design. The exterior is finished off with several small rosettes. This is a very cute round top that will fit in just about anywhere in your home. Since it’s fully restored inside and out it can be displayed open or closed. We found it on one of our annual New England trunk hunts in Lewiston, ME.
Dimensions: 34″ wide x 16″ (front to back) deep x 15″ tall, 85 lbs.
History: This trunk dates back to the 1890s. We found it in Lewiston, ME.
